CARE
Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE)
The CARE program was established in 1982 as a supplemental component of EOPS to provide additional educational support services and activities for single head-of-household student parents whose family are receiving county cash aid support. The CARE program offers additional support services so students can secure the education, training, and marketable skills needed for self-sufficiency and upward social mobility.
Services:
All services provided by EOPS and also:
- books and educational supplies voucher
- transportation assistance
- childcare referrals
- cash grants
- transportation grants
- Coordination with Health and Human Services agencies
- Other assistance needed for retention and academic success
Eligibility:
- Current EOPS student
- Receiving CalWORKs cash aid for themself or their child(ren)
- At least 18 years old, single and head of household parent
- Provide verification of benefits
Forms
- CARE Application and Self Certification (for current EOPS students only)
- Attach a county Verification of Benefits (VOB) to the CARE application. VOB can be downloaded from https://benefitscal.com/ or can be requested from county caseworkers.
